Lucy Brighton

Lucy Brighton is a writer and teacher who believes in the power of stories to change the world. Based in Barnsley, she is passionate about championing underrepresented voices and highlighting the experiences of working-class communities. Whether crafting her own fiction or teaching budding writers, Lucy is always looking for ways to connect with people through the written word. When she's not working, you can find her reading, having ridiculous conversations with her naughty dog Loki, or pursuing new creative projects.

Writer and English teacher, Lucy Brighton, brings her extensive knowledge and experience to the table. With over 16 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing, Lucy is the perfect combination of a talented wordsmith and an experienced educator. She specialises in short story and flash fiction writing and has been recognised for her work with multiple prizes. Her passion for writing is unmatched, and she is currently working on her debut novel.

Lucy’s writing has been shaped by the unique environment where she grew up. Barnsley, a town in the north of England, instilled in her a love of storytelling, a strong work ethic, and an appreciation for the beauty in everyday life. These attributes are reflected in her writing, which captures the nuances and complexities of human experience, while maintaining a sense of groundedness and authenticity.
