When the topic of a launch party came up, I wasn't sure. A party for me and my books where I have to talk about me and my books?! Sounded scary. Most people know I literally talk for a living. For the last 18 years, someone has paid me to talk about books and writing. So I should find it easy, right? I don't!
But after the nerves and a glass of wine, I had a brilliant day. My friends, family and local community all turned out to support me.

Two books in one week?
Having two books out in the same week was never my intention, but things with What Kind of a Name is Lolly Anyway? moved quicker than expected.
Support
As guests arrived, I was overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and support. I wasn't sure what to expect, but everyone was genuinely happy to celebrate my success with me.
Readings
I did a reading from both of my books, and sharing my words with an audience was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but the applause and smiles from my friends reassured me.

Book signing
One of the highlights was the book signing. I loved personalising each copy and chatting with readers about their thoughts and expectations.
Raising money for charity.
One of the things I was keen to do at the event was raise some money for Meningitis Now - a charity close to my heart. The raffle included books, boskish things and booze and it definitely went down well.

The book launch party was not just a celebration of my work; it was a celebration of the people who believed in me and my writing journey. I left the venue with a full heart and a renewed sense of purpose, ready to embark on the next chapter of my literary adventure.
